There are three types of fish pond filtration systems:
- Biological filters
- Mechanical filters
- Water clarifiers
The biological filter receives water that has gone through the mechanical filter. As the water travels from the bottom to the top of the biological filter, it passes through the filter media, which helps removes fine particles.
Once the pond filter system is full, it overflows and cascades down the lip and over rocks, creating a natural-looking waterfall. Aside from aesthetic properties, the waterfall aerates the pond water and helps maintain water circulation.
